Valve Cover Gaskets

Looking to replace my valve cover gaskets and found several different types (obviously) and wanted to know if anyone else has recently replaced theirs and what gaskets they used and how they worked.

It's the 350 v8 engine. I found that Fel-Pro makes a rubber set, but read several reviews of people not liking them due to their overall thickness. They also make a cork/rubber model as well. Has anyone used this one?

Thanks!

Last time around I used the thicker FelPro rubber gaskets and they worked very well.

The rubber with a rigid carrier are good, various vendors on Ebay. There are also latex coated cork like Mr Gasket Ultra Seal. Edelbrock is that style, probably the same ones. The Felpro rubber do become hard over time, have seen it twice. The last set came out in many pieces.

Don't waste your time on the felpro rubber gaskets the hole alignment is awful. I have a recent thread with pics that i just went through. Two sets and the same alignment issues. Was easily modified but,you shouldn't have to f with valve cover gaskets to get them to fit.

Unhappy

I used the Fel-Pro VS 13403 T, which was a molded silicone rubber. They worked well, and included spreaders and replacement bolts. The bad part is that I suspect that they are no longer being made. I haven't seen them in a long time.

Unfortunately I think you are correct. I found a very dusty set of them hanging on my favorite machine shop's wall recently and grabbed them. Been out of production for a while. I've bought Chinesium no-name versions at Carlisle but haven't tried them yet.

I just installed a set of the Cometic valve cover gaskets on original 350 valve covers and they fit correctly with no mods required..

Available at O'Reillys

There are copies of those awesome Felpro Permadry with the rigid carrier and silicone sealing beads? I have only seen the solid rubber valve cover gaskets with a steel core. They are available from various vendors, including Rocket Racing and work quite well.

Absolutely!! As long as some of these engines have been in production, there is ZERO excuse when things don’t fit the way they should.

I guess the only excuse is sloppy manufacturing, and no quality control.

Looking to double up my valve cover gaskets for clearance for HS rockers. What are the best ones to double up on.? The 1/4 inch ones? Let me know.
