Value 66 330

I was offered a 66 330 4bl engine today that is disassembled and machined with a .010 crank and .030 cylinder over bore, comes with bearing, OS pistons and gasket set. What is a fair price(both for seller and buyer)? It's not that I need it or anything..................

If you don't need it, don't worry about a "fair" price.

You don't need it.

Only buy it if the price is so low that it really doesn't matter to you that you spent it.

Since everything's disassembled and machine work has been done, you have to take his word for it that everything was done right, and the parts are correct and correctly sized. There is financial compensation for this risk.

Personally, I'd pay somewhere south of a thousand, preferably as far south as possible, but I don't need one either, and I have no idea whether that's "fair" or not.

Is it a complete engine from pan to carb? Does it come with brackets, accy's, flexplate, etc?

A pal of mine just bought a hard loaded 66 Cutlass and it came with the under construction 330 and offered it to me but we didn't get into details as to what would go with engine as he well knows I already own multiples of 66-67 brackets, accy's, flexplate etc.

Well, I'd start with what your favorite machine shop would charge to do the work to a core 330. Plus the price of new parts. Then look at somewhere between 50-75% of what that would cost. If he's a buddy who needs the cash, maybe closer to the 75%. If he's doing OK on the deal he got and wants to pass some of it on to you, maybe closer to 50%.

That's how I'd try to calculate it.
