Value of a '65 330

Hi everyone.

I have a 65 F85 parts car that someone wants the whole car. He wants to cut off the quarters and also use the floor and scrap the rest. There won't be much left after this.

The motor it has in it ran a few years ago. It's been run fairly hot but I don't think it's cooked. If I don't pull the motor it will likely go to the recycler. But I don't have any use for it, and 330s are pretty plentiful.

Is there any compelling reason to keep this motor? Thanks everyone.

Seems there is not much of a calling for an old 330, even less for a Jetaway (st300) transmission. I've got mine stored in a shed.

If you've got the time I'd pull some parts off it. The heads, flexplate, balancer and pulleys have interest. The crankshaft too since its forged steel and will work in a 350, but that would take more time to tear it down that far. John

I agree that the heads and crank are useful for a small block performance build. Folks with #8 heads would be happy to have those heads.

I offered mine with rebuilt heads for $500 and a good jetaway trans. All I got was crickets.

I agree with John. Pull it apart.

I actually think the 330 is a better engine than most of the 350 and 403 engines out there. But they are very overlooked and seem to draw no attention for resale except as already stated.

I have 5 of them two of which are very low mile engines. I just got done building a 350 and used the #4 67 330 heads and it runs great!.

Best of luck.

Larry

Thanks guys. I might give this guy the car and tell him to give me back whatever he doesn't want. He wants floors and the lower quarters, for a 64 Skylark. The floors should work but I'm not sure about the quarter. He needs the lower part, says he thinks it's the same.

Anyway if I get the rolling frame back maybe I'll build something wacky on top of it.
