I got a whole box of those things up in the attic someplace. Most of them are missing a wheel or scratched beyond recognition. I think I will go seal up the box and advertise them on eBay. Maybe one of those crack heads will bite

I tried looking up some of the cars listed on that box but can't find them. That means by process of elimination, they're PRICELESS and the bids should EASILY get to a bazillion dollars!!!
Eric, we used to use them as targets when we were out with our .22s. They were like Timex watches - took a lickin and kept on tickin. Well sort of. Eventually they blew apart.

Yep, I used to run in that hobby for about 15 years. Believe it or not, that price is down a bit from a few years ago. Unopened cases are always a big buzz in the redline hobby. One was once put under an x-ray to try to identify the car models without breaking the seal. Some of the cars in the box are stamped on the taped end. If it were satmped "442", you could add another 10k to the price. These cases are never as valuable as hoped, and 3/4s of the value is in the unopened box. It would be akin to finding a vintage Harley still in the crate. A few of these have been opened over the years at the National Hot Wheels Conventions. Yes, more boys that never grew up.

I bet there is one out there. I know a guy that sold a 1986 Honda 250R 3 wheeler for over $30K that was still in the crate. I know of a 60s Schwinn Stingray that is new in the sealed box. They want $6K for it but not listing it because they are worried someone will buy it.
