U code Cutlass is it worth getting back

Is a 4 door U code car worth fixing.
Before I get started with this the car is fairly solid or at least it was 7 years ago when I owned it. I can still get the original 72 455 motor back. I swapped it out years ago for a small block 350 that I had that ran. Great to get better mileage and have something to take my kids to a car show in. It's a neat car, power doors, power seat, ac, power locks, tilt column. It's got the clock I believe if I remember right. As well as I have the 455 for it or can have it back.
Is this worth fixing. The guy? Overheated the 350 from what I understand that I put in it and crashed it down the left side. I haven't seen the damage but front fender quarter panel and one of the doors. It is a four-door. What would something like this even be worth? I don't even know. He wants $3,000 broken. I think he's way out of line. Am I out of line?

A 1972 U-code more door is extremely rare. Is it valuable? That's a different question.

Are you considering buying it back because you miss it and want to keep it when it is done? Are you buying it back so you can sell it when done? If you a buying it back to fix and sell, I would move on, as you will most likely be upside down on value when it is finished.

3K is getting in the range of its value repaired. Call your next case and move to the next project.

NO I was toying with the idea of getting the big block 455 back and putting the numbers match engine back in and then selling it. I know where the engine is and if I could make money and save something I think is different and cool well I just might.

More doors are gaining some popularity, unfortunately not enough to overcome the expense you're going to layout in repairs.
