Trying to identify Steering Column. 1967 or 1968 Cutlass?

Hi All
I've got a steering column that I pulled long ago, and removed the steering wheel from it. Now I'm trying to figure out if it came out of a 1967 or a 1968 Cutlass. Can anybody tell me if they interchange? If not, what can I look for to distinguish which one it came out of. I've looked at 1967 and 1968 cars with the columns intact, but nothing is jumping out at me.

John

I think they were basically the same with the exception of minor differences in the shifter/directional handles and mounting brackets that do not effect installation. They both have shock absorbing intermediate shafts that allow them to collapse on impact.

The 67 has a one piece long shaft to the steering box. The 68 has a two piece shaft.

As in #4 above. The 68 has a big pot coupling near the firewall.
