Trunk Release Question

I have a 69 Cutlass and have looked around for trunk releases and see, I think, that 69 would have a vacuum powered release, and later years have an electric one. I would prefer to just run wires if possible. I have also noticed that the actual release is physically different. Is there an electric one that would fit in a 69 or would I have to change the latch etc?

thanks,
Steve

The trunk release solenoid from a 70-72 fits the 68-69 cars. I added the solenoid from a 71 to my 69 a long time ago, I don’t recal any issues making the swap.

The same set up works in a 64 SS.

I put the later electric one on my '68. It works fine. I had to open up the hole in the trunk lid a little because the solenoid was too wide to fit in the opening. Maybe it's just a '68 thing. The bolt pattern is the same. I even slid some vacuum hose over the wire that I ran up the rh trunk hinge to make it look a little more factory.
