a true barn find
i can't talk much about this at this time but i located an incredible barn find. this guy is a great guy and has a heart for Oldsmobile's. it is going to take a long time for us to work out details as to what kind of deal we can do. he is in no hurry and i can't afford everything he has so maybe we can work out a long term solution that will benefit us both. i would like to make a couple bucks from the deal but at the same time this guy is so cool i definitely don't want to see him get screwed by the wrong person showing up or seeing it all go to an auction. if you happen to think these 5 cars are a cool barn find, you haven't seen nothing yet......
i will likely not add to this information for a long time but will fill you in eventually.
till next time...

Way cool Eric! Yes, if you can help him market them and get some benifit for your time that would be fun. Those pictures look like he's collected some really nice cars! How long has he had them? Are you implying he's got a collection of parts too? When your able to share the full story it would be fun to hear how you met him... and how long it took you to breath again when he showed you his collection John

the red one is in the worst shape, it don't have the original engine or trans and the body is a little rough. it does have a nice OAI hood and a W-27. the reason i add this is because he said that is the one he would like to keep if he keeps anything.
john, i think the parts he has would bring as much or more than the cars. i don't think any of the cars have original engines other than a 71 SX convertible. the others are 442s and W-30s

Nice stash.
I've been trying to get information on a 70 Olds Cutlass in a co workers father's garage, he doesn't know what model but he remembers his father saying there was something special about it, he doesn't think it's a 442 though, maybe an SX?. It's been there since the 80's. I've volunteered to take it off his hands. Even if it's a run of the mill Cutlass i wouldn't mind a second Olds.

WOW !!! Sit on that deal and bird dog it until you get something worked out. There is a guy local to me, has a 69 Cutlass. Nice blue paint, white vinyl top, good interior. He had rebuilt the 350 and Th350 installed them, then went to do the headers. Said the motor has to come up to get the headers in, got disgusted with it, and it has sat outside now for a couple to 3 years unfinished getting beat up by the weather. He had not even added fluids to the trans or motor. Just sitting. I see it about 2 times a month and I have yet to talk the guy out of it at any price. I beg him to at least get it under a carport if he don't want it in the garage. Just crazy !!! This guy here is much smarter, at least they are out of the weather.

well guys, i just got back from his house. there is stuff there i didn't think was and other stuff i thought i seen the first time but isn't. it is still a great find but after discussing some options i think i will just buy some stuff now and then from him. i tried to talk him into coming here to list some stuff but i don't think he will. i like this guy alot and don't want to see him get screwed but at the same time, most of the prices he knows is from when the economy was better. this will be a long process so please don't bombard me with to many PMs. i have had many of them already.if he does come here he may be upset with me for posting the pictures. i told him about the thread but not the pictures. as for the cars, that will be an even longer process.

the other blue one i have dibs on, it is a 70 W-30 without the original engine. does have the original OW transmission. most of the good 442 parts are missing on this car.

lol, not even close. i assure you, this guy is not known. but i think i do know who you are talking about. your guy is about 1 hour south of me. has a vista with OAI? and can't get off the phone with him.

He used to live by me (in Indy) ~ 20 years ago. I got some nice parts and would help him load & travel to swap meets back then.
I once piloted a really ratty Vista that was packed full of parts/junk... had almost no exhaust system... no working dash... like 4 hrs back to Indy...in pouring rain... for him...
Had to keep the windows open to be able to breathe...
Its in this pic..
I tracked him down & talked to him on the phone about 1.5 years ago ....for over 2 hours....
Sorry to derail your thread....

lol, i have delt with Bob since the early 90s when his parts were north of indy. me and a buddy just picked up a 68 442 hood from him about 8 months ago. it took us 3 hours to get out of there.

This would've been the late 80's...maybe 1990. He used to keep some cars at the place up north, but most of his amazing collection of parts were stored in his small apartment in Indy. IIRC, there were stacks of dual snorkle ACs, heads, intakes, carbs, gauge packs, trim pieces, NOS boxes, etc...all pretty clean & neatly arranged, but crammed into a tiny 2BR apt.
He was a nice guy to me...I got my rally pac setup, a few other goodies, and a lot of helpful info from him back then... Its prolly what made me love my car (& all things Oldsmobile) more than I would have...
I only talked to him on the phone recently...haven't seen him ~20 years....
Good luck with your barn find...& keep us posted...

it looks like we are going to be dealing with each other on this stuff for a while. i give him a list of parts i would like to buy as a first batch. he is going to put together some prices for me and we will see where it goes. some of the parts i will be selling for him and i won't be buying. i did buy a set of NOS 70 hood moldings from him already for my Rallye 350.

OK guys, i will likely be posting some stuff for sale soon. it looks like i will be mostly selling stuff for him and not buying to much myself to start with. my problem is that i don't know where to price some stuff. that stuff may have to go to eBay but all the fees suck. some of the parts i have never seen sell to get an idea of value. a couple NOS parts that may have to go to eBay will be
dual gate shifter ****
70 W-30 valve springs
OAI hood pin kits and hold downs
70 442 hood tongue (holes pre punched for 442)
70 front bumper
71-72 cut out back bumper

i didn't word it very well. these are some of the parts i have no idea what to price them at. they may have to go to eBay to get a true market value. i have had 3 PMs on the shifter **** already. anybody know a good market value on these items? they are all NOS.
