Tri-Carb sales

Is there sales numbers available for the early(J2) and late Tri-Carb.

I seem to notice a lot of early Tri-Carb intakes and intake/carb set ups for sale on various forsale sites, makes me wonder how many were made.

And with the 66 Tri-Carb, is there a way to identify the reproduction manifold vs the factory piece. I noticed a manifold for sale on Craigs list that is in excellent condition, almost too nice for a 66 yr old piece

To your second question, yes the repo intake is noticeably different that the OEM unit. The runners are disfigured and the numbers/font are different.

One of the reasons for so many J-2 manifolds is because this manifold was also used on '58 Dynamic 88's with a two barrel carb.
They simply blocked off the front and rear carb holes with a metal plate.

I wonder how many were retrofitted in a dark garage under the guidance and power of recreationally consumed alcohol.

That can really explain a lot. I was just surfing for Olds parts yesterday and today, and came across 5 different different manifolds, and 2 2x4 intakes

The next step is to price the W-30 air cleaner with the ram air ports. The real deal full tricarb and manifold plus linkage will run you less than half what the air cleaner will cost...if you can find one. After 30 years of looking I finally got a real 66 W-30 air cleaner assembly.

I would also point out there seems to be a lot of the tri-carb manifolds without the carbs or linkage out there. The gentleman that experts in them is from Bama.

I tried searching for sales numbers of 57-58 olds tri carb production..cannot seem to find any. There are a lot of them out there and they are relatively cheap, the 1966 unit, not so much and certainly not cheap

J2 intakes are/were everywhere about 10 yrs ago. I have on the wall as garage art, since I'll probably never find a 371 for it.

There has been more J-2 manifolds around for a while, as Charlie Jones explained. What's scarce is the end carbs..... they don't have an idle circuit. They are also smaller 2 barrels than used on the GTO's and L-69 Olds.
