+Tool Review - HFT 1/4" swivel Ratchet

http://www.harborfreight.com/1-4-qua...het-96781.html

Bought one of these for at work a while back. Took about 3 yrs to break it, at which time HFT replaced it free. Light duty, obviously, not for harmonic balancer bolts. Works great, fine ratchet, lasted a long time.

Cost was $10-15
Strap-on sells a similar one, also made in China, for $110
Yes, ONE HUNDRED and ten dollars.
Same product [essentially]
Same guarantee

I highly recommend this tool for general light duty underdash, carb, and similar tasks.

You mean this Snap-On? Country of origin says U.S.A. according to SO's site.

I used to be one that thought Snap-On stuff was ridiculously overpriced. Then two things happened 1) I got to where I could actually afford Snap-On and 2) I used a buddies Snap-On dual 80 series ratchet. I quickly went and replaced all of my ratchets with the new SO dual 80 ratchets. The feel and ratchet mechanism is so smooth, second to none.

I'm not saying SO is for everyone but with Craftsman slowly phasing out it's USA made hand tools for Chinese junk replacements I find myself buying more and more SO stuff.

I have and will buy Harbor Freight stuff on occasion but not for anything that's going to see any serious or repeated use.

I had a S-K 3/8 long handle ratchet made like that back in the 70s. Lost through the years. Fantastic for plugs, waterpumps.

the couple tools I have bought at HF ive broken quickly !

I still have most of my craftsman tools (USA) except for 1 rachet that failed after a decade and was replaced free... (and the few ive lost).

I have only a couple snap on box end wrenches and they feel sweeter in my hand than the equivelant craftsmen wrench

I really dont have the cash to replace my current inventory w SO but when i hit the lottery Ill put that on the list as long as they arent made in china

I do appreciate the review and I understand your "lightduty" caveat it looks like a nice tool design
