Cool. I imagine the Corvette was a 54 since 53 are so rare and nobody would probably bring one out. There were some nice Oldsmobiles there and a 58 Impala convertible with factory air. Very rare.

You didn't happen to see my girlfriend did you?

She's done this before!
She's been gone since the Iola Car Show last summer.

That looks like a pretty good day. Nice cars and mother nature cooperated.
Pretty wet and soggy around here but we'll turn the corner soon enough.

That Eldorado must of been a sight.

Thanks for sharing pics Charlie. I needed that. Its been raining or snowing all day up here. That's a wild "Eldo", what a ride !!!!! I might have a set of full disc hub caps from a '72 Olds 98 for your car if you want them.

The Corvette was a '54 . If you look close you will see that the valve cover has bolts around the outside rather than in the middle , and two large air cleaners .
I haven't been to Iola lately . but it keeps getting bigger all the time. I was at the 3rd Iola car show in 1974 . less than 50 cars and half of those belonged to one owner , Ken Buttolph .
It was a nice day , mid eighties and no rain . The " car " drew a lot of attention . and I answered a lot of questions . primary one was " Where's the rest of it ? "
The Eldo' was really wild , It had two 500 cu. in. engines , one in the front and one in the back seat . Four wheel drive and even rear steering .
The guy said he could burn all four tires at once .
Don't need the hubcaps , The "dog dishes " are gonna stay .

Thanks for taking the time to take and share the pics Charlie. Sure is nice to see pics such as that while we are still buried in snow up here in Canada. Good to see you take your frame off out to the show, it looks great. I'm sure that would have inspired some others to do the same.

Nice, Charlie!

My wife used to do Shows & Events for GM. She was very proud of the ACDelco Rolling Chassis that her team put together for the show circuit one year. Everything that could be purchased via ACD was painted to make it stand out on the chassis, and your picture reminded me of it (although knowing yours goes under an Olds makes it much sweeter than her K2XX display).

We have our car shows in the winter in Florida .
That's because in May , June , July , August , and September it's too blasted HOT !
Ninety degrees plus every day , with 90 plus percent humidity .

Similar here, but for the temps add 20-30 degrees and a lot less humidity. Gets into the 50-60% range during monsoon season, which is enough to melt the indigenous people. When I first moved here form the Gulf Coast swamp lands I just had to laugh at them.

The heat is no joke, though. I quickly learned that leaving a convertible with black vinyl seats parked in the sun when it's 110+ out can be very hazardous to your backside, and those Deluxe seat belt buckles can become branding irons.
