It has been 17 years since our country was attacked by terrorist. Our world changed that day and will never be the same. I read last week more people have died from the effect of the toxic air than actually died on 911. That event united our country but we have fallen a long way from then. I think of the families that lost love ones that day. There are thousands of them. Small children are now grown adults. I would suggest taking a moment of silence or prayer today. Say thanks to our military for keeping our country free.

Thanks Frank. We should never forget what happened that day. I am afraid that it will be eliminated from the history books one day in order to keep from offending somebody. That would be total BS.

 

Yes, I watch the you tube videos every year of the live coverage. I also have my kids watch some every year of the footage on the ground and tell them to always respect our veterans and service members.

Like blakes7 I live on LI. I also work in the City for about 25 years. My 1st job on NYC was in the Trade Center. I knew people that died that day. They say everyone in downstate NY will either have known somebody that died, on knew somebody that knows somebody that died. 100% correct that people are still dying from 9-11 related illnesses.
We say Never Forget but I know 1st hand that many already have. What the willfully ignorant don't want to acknowledge is that what those bastards did that day is the worst possible thing they could pull off. If they could drop a bomb on the entire City they would without hesitation.

My daughter (8th grade) is assigned a book about 9-11 that the whole grade is reading. I will be reading it as well. If its revisionist history I will not hold my tongue

Just got back from a 9/11 memorial ceremony held by the local fire dept. A lot of people showed up, local politicians, families, high school choir sang, it was very nice. One of the fire commissioners, who spoke at the ceremony, I am proud to call my friend. He was very much involved with the 9/11 recovery effort, and was there at Ground Zero from the very beginning.

I will finish with this tonight. My brother's first grandchild turned 17 today. He was born on 911. His heart stopped while he was still in his mother's womb. Fortunately she was in the doctors office across the street from the hospital and they rushed her over for and emergency C-section. It was very touch and go for several days. He has developed with a few issues but is one of the sweetest kids and a special child.

 

I think its under-reported out of NY that we are still losing 1st responders due to 9-11 related illnesses. Someone I went to HS with that was NYPD does of cancer last year. I hope your friend is OK. Due to liability there is pushback in adding these names to the death toll but they most certainly should be.

 

Thanks. He's ok for now, though he does have health problems from 9/11 that are being treated and monitored.

I will vote this fall for politicians that are supportive of our first responders, as opposed to politicians that hate America, or align themselves and agree with those that hate America. I'd better not get started on what some of them have said recently...

 

Not to go on a rant, but what does it say about the Dem candidate for AG that the best they can say about her is she's gone to the mat for immigrant families?
What has she done to support the born & raised citizens on NY? How has she addressed the drug crisis? MS13? Violence against Police? Making it very clear where their priorities are.

 

It's all about power to them. They'll buy votes by pandering to illegal aliens. Anyone who doesn't believe this, ask yourself one question: If illegal aliens were as a group much more likely to vote republican than democratic, Charles Schumer would be on the border, personally aiming a loaded bazooka towards Mexico.

The elitists in our country don't have to worry about being victimized by illegal aliens or any other criminal, their kids won't be in public schools with gangs, they and their families won't have to wait in a mobbed, overwhelmed emergency room.

It certainly does say where their priorities are. Power, and to hell with anything and everyone else.

 

My anniversary is 9/11/99. Nineteen years yesterday. It sucks to have an important life event on 911 now.

 

I'm across the pond but, However, I have heard so many horror stories of that 911 day. So many innocent people lost their lives on that day and still to this day .
Its so terrible it makes me sick!!
The first responders had no idea what they were going into, brave men and women !
I probably shouldn't mention this but.. Seeing as how I'm a Tool & Die maker with many years experience in many steels, stamping materials etc.
I feel the need to express what I seen on several video's that really make sense. How metal can disintegrate and not be found. Aluminium I understand. Engines and beams, not so much.
Something doesn't add up with the whole deal in relationship to the footage shot in the Loose Change video's.
That's just my .02 ,
God bless all that had to go through the tragic day, to the lives lost and those still living with the issues that surrounded the day of and days after !!

I don't think metal disintegrated, it just wound up in little pieces. Unless it melted from fire. A former neighbor of mine, a NYC fireman, was at a landfill in Staten Island watching all these bits go by on a conveyor belt and his job was to pick off the body parts and put them in buckets. I imagine this is where blobs of molten metal, and bits and pieces of torn metal were among the body parts and small items of debris, like chunks of concrete and bits of office furniture.

 

I was driving my fork lift that day for the US Gov't and every time I dropped off a boxes at UPS I saw on a TV what was happening I knew it was a attack on us them. Not sure why they didn't shoot down the next planes that hit the other buildings. Don't forget the other building that were hit that day and the people on the one flight that never made its target. I watched the 911 program on TV about the ones one floor down from the hit. Two guys carried a women from her wheel chair all the steeps down and made it out OK. Never forget......

 

The Loose Change video's I have seen, just show the whole disaster in a different way . To me anyway !
