Tires request

I finally got 15x7 wheels, i talked it over with a good friend and decided to put 275/60r15 on it at the rear I'm going to keep the 235/60r14 up front. Right now I'm short on cash for the tires so its going to be a little bit, if anyone has a '72 or '71 or close to that Cutlass with similar tires on could you guys take a few snap shots and post so I can get a decent point of view? Please and thank you.

Exclamation not enough rim

I don't believe you will have enough width in your rim size to support the 275/60R15 tires. Ideally the rims should be 7.5-9.5 in width. I think you would be better off with 8" rim width. Your tires are going to bulge out from the rim bead. IMHO

I would not run a 275 on a 7" wide wheel.

Also, the 275/60R15 is a 28" diameter tire, while the 235/60R14 is only 25.1" diameter. That's a 3" difference and will give the car a noticable rake. If that's what you're looking for, fine. But it might look a little hillbilly.....

7" rim go 255/60/ on rear and use the 235 on front. My car in the signature 255/60/15 on rear and 245/60 up front. I think on your 71-72 you have a little more clearance to work with than the 68.

Fyi

Many have run 275 60 15s on 7" rims & report no issues but I don't do it. 8-8.5" rim for 275 60 15s for me.

255 60 15s out back fit great on 7" wide rims & are a nice size stagger with your 235 60 15s up front.

Here is how that wheel & tire stagger looks on some 69 442s I have owned

I have done it and they work ok. The tire's will look a little balloon looking but it does work. However, I still wouldn't recommend it.
