thumbs up for Arthur Gould rebuilders
Dropped my water pump off to have rebuilt last friday around 11:00 and got a call around 3pm the same day to say your water pump is ready. I was in no hurry but they really surprised me how fast this was done. I know to people who do this all day everyday this water pump is pretty straight forward.
It turns out Arthur Gould rebuilders has been sold a couple times and the latest guy running the show is a guy by the name of Parker (Parker's Packards) He obviously works on Packards and he had some beautiful old treasures in the garage. I am lucky enough to be about a 40 minute drive from them so I brought my pump over personally to check it out and save a couple bucks on shipping. The place has lofts full of milk crates with pumps of all kinds. I was talking to a guy worked there and he told me people from all over the world send them pumps to rebuild. There were also Packards shipped from somewhere just to be tuned up.
They rebuilt the pump and it comes with a one year warranty. It wasn't cheap IMO (100.00)
I asked them about fuel pumps for 1970 Olds and they only rebuild pumps that are accessible and not crimped. They seem like a pretty good outfit, just thought Id give a shout out.
Ill include some before and after pics.http://www.arthurgouldrebuilders.com

$100 isn't an unreasonable price for rebuilding a specific casting number and date coded water pump, especially when the rebuild retains the original closed impeller. I investigated water pump rebuilds over 10 years ago and the prices I was quoted were around what you paid, so I'd say you got a good price.

I have used Parker (Arthur Gould) to do my W/pumps too. I gave him a non-H/D pump with the cast impeller, that I didn't need and he put a 400269 (aftermarket garbage impeller) and replaced all internals and nipples swapped impeller and primed it. Nice fresh, like brand new and same price from years ago. Very reasonable, Real good guy and nice shop!
