Throttle Cable Adjustments.....

Hello,

Is there any way to adjust the throttle cable on a 1967 Toronado? Need to make it about 1/2 longer. The way it is now when I push the gas pedal to the floor, the cable slips through the plastic gromet, and the car just idles. If the cable was 1/2 inch longer, that would not happen......Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom
I'm not picturing the grommet where its slipping. Can you post a picture? If not, describe exactly where the grommet is? John

John,

It is the grommet that fits inside the little round hole at the top of the gas pedal linkage inside the car. It is what holds the throttle cable. When I push the gas pedal to the floor, the throttle cable is not long enough, and it justs goes through the little plastic grommet that is supposed to hold/stop the cable. Clear as Mud? I'll try to take a pic this evening.....

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom
Here's some pictures of the throttle pedal and parts inside the car. Do you think if you replaced the plastic grommet that would fix your problem? John

Thanks for posting the pics. That is exactly where the problem is! When I floor the gas pedal, the cable goes right through the plastic grommet. I've replaced the plastic grommet, but it did it again. The cable is not long enough to allow the gas pedal to go to the floor. When I do push the gas pedal to the floor, it pulls the cable through the grommet. Any ideas?

Thanks for your time!

Tom
