Then and Now

My 78 Cutlass was painted in 1998, then after time the clear coat started to peel. I put a band-aid on it to buy me some time...
Before:

Now with a couple changes:

Well that'll work for a while. Interesting with the H/O scoop.

I haven't been back to the track since the scoop swap, might get the 850 Holley some more air to breathe. I also have a few pieces I need to swap in, when time allows. I just got the Comp Cams adjustable valvetrain kit and a new Howe Racing aluminum radiator.

Good looking 78! If you need the 69 ho scoop for more air form follows function, but I like the way it looked w the 83-4 ho scoop,

Yeah, I would not say I really needed more air, but I had the scoop and thought I would give it a shot. I still have the cowl induction scoop, I also have a second aluminum hood to put it on. The cowl scoop is an aftermarket bolt on, it is very similar, but different than the 83/84 H/O scoop. I flat blacked the top side, since I was painting the top half I thought now would be a good chance to fit the H/O scoop, then added 97-03 Grand Prix GT driving lights, location somewhat inspired by 69 Camaro running lights. I have owned the car since 1990, I just wanted to change it up a little.

The camper is a 1976 Scamper, I am stuck in old school mode. I bought the 69 H/O scoop from a Ford guy who acquired it in a package deal. I took it off his hands a few years ago and thought it would be cool to try it on my rowdy car. The rest of my cars are stock for the most part.

Thanks Backinthegame I really want to get my 68 Cutlass Convertible roadworthy and enjoy it some this fall, my first Cutlass was a 68, that was 1983, I have always had an Olds in the driveway since!

Have you ever considered a VFN functional fibreglass hood for your 78? Not all that expensive either

Never seen one before now, I like it! I really need to look into bumper fillers, I guess they are fender to bumper filler side panels, since mine are really deteriorating. Does anyone have info on aftermarket options?

x2, The grill is so unique that I like the understated power bulge style hood to balance it out.

I like the cowl type scoop, but I looked out over it for 25 years (I think I put it on there in 1991), I just wanted to do something different for a while...
