Testing pick up coil and capacitor?

I have an almost new aftermarket capacitor in this distributor. I thought I toasted the Ignitor 3 module, replaced it with a new AC Delco module. It just happened to be the cheapest in stock but still too much. Either way the car cranks but is not firing. I assume a resistance check on both?

I don't understand the "replaced the igniter iii module with an ac delco module".

I don't understand the presence of both a pick-up coil and a capacitor.

HEIs have a radio noise suppression capacitor.

I ***-U-ME this is what we're talking about, though it might have been helpful to tell us what distributor this is...

Yes a GM HEI. Yes the suppression capacitor, which basically affects radio noise only, from what I read. If the pick up coil is toast, a cheap Chinese distributor with replace it since I want to try and sell my 88. I found the pick up coil tests online and how to test the coil. I will also make sure 12 volts is sitting where it should be as well.

No blink while cranking on the tach terminal. I bet the pick up coil is toast. I have only had one HEI module fail, didn't put the heat sink compound under it. I have seen multiple pick up coils fail.
