Test for the gm parts gurus
I was sorting through some GM emblems I had in storage to start cataloging them and found this one which I forgot I had... Definitely a conversation piece for some GM parts people who were unaware of it, especially after the year 2000... The GM Part Number is 22649423... Some may know right away what it was for, others will need Google as a friend...

They make Tesla now and they were a BOP plant in the 60/70’s. I grew up in Fremont and I’ve had three Cutlass’s and a Skylark that we’re all born there well before this abomination.

I saw this yesterday.
Many of the Japan automakers allied when coming over here. Mazda and Ford allied, GM and Toyota allied, Chrysler and Mitsubishi did.
My company, Toyota, started over here as a dockside shipper in LA, but then made New United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated, NUMMI, out of a certain car plant called Fremont Assembly, known to us here as a 442 making plant with oddball cowl tags. When the economy went south in 09, GM was restructured into GM and Motors Liquidation Company, which got rid of all the brands, and all the debt, GM didn't want. They killed off Pontiac and pulled out of NUMMI in like a day, leaving Toyota with a UAW workforce and no Pontiac Vibe. NUMMI had the truck line, making around 80% of the Toyota Tacoma production, and the car line, making around 50% of the Corolla and Matrix production, and all of the Vibes. The Vibe was a rebadged Matrix, it was a Toyota vehicle with Pontiac logos.
Toyota realized that NUMMI, on their own, was untenable, and offered everyone jobs at other facilities, which some took. The TX plant was retooled for the addition of the Tacoma, Canada spooled up to handle additional Corollas, the plant intended for Highlanders in Mississippi got Corollas, and the Highlander came here to Indiana. The Vibe died the day GM did, and the Matrix got axed a few years later.
The logo in the picture is a "Toyota Cavalier", which is a Chevy Cavalier exported to Japan and sold via Toyota, and the only thing Toyota on it is that logo. I had to look this part of the story up, the rest I lived.
