Straps are natural in finish. Only colored if painted by someone after they wre sold new.

I believed they were fabricated by shearing from galvanized sheet and hence they are zinc in color. By contrast Chevelles' straps were black (at least in 1969-72).

They're galvanized.

it depends on the assembly plant. while the straps are galvanized, they are left like that from Lansing. Fremont, they were painted black. I've several cars from each and thats what I have seen,
