SX vs 442
#2
Simply speaking, the 442s hardtops were the 'fastback' 'S' body style and the SX were the formal roof line 'Supreme' body style. However the 442 convertibles and SX convertibles were both built on the 'Supreme' body style so essentially there were no differences, sheetmetal-wise, between the SX and 442 convertibles. Of course there were many differences in fascia, side mouldings, brightwork, engine options, etc., between the 442 and SX. Both the 442 and SX shared the cut-out, trumpet exhaust.

In 1970, only the W32 optioned SXes had the exact same 365hp 455 as the base engined 442. The more common L-33 2 barrel SXes had 320 hp high-compression 455s, and the later-year L-31 455s were the same 365 hp engines that were used on the "big" cars.
The 1971 SXes used only one 455: the 320 hp L-31, as compared to the 340 hp 455 in the base 442.
There are several threads on this topic already if you use the Search function. They have a lot of details you may want to read. sx455.com has a lot of info too.

If you added the W32 option to the SX, you got the same engine as the auto 442. Here's everything you wanted to know about the SX:
