Super Stock III Wheel Finish

Super Stock III Wheel Finish
I'm getting ready to refurbish my SSIII wheels and was wondering if the paint finish on the wheel is gloss or semi gloss. I know paint of that era didn't have the shine or gloss of today's car, just want to keep an authentic look to my ride. Thanks.

Although I'm far from an expert on your era, I've had a '73 and a '74.
As I recall, the wheels were painted body color with the same paint
and the finish was the same as the body.
Acrylic lacquer was used in those years with no clear coat,
so the finish did not have the relative "wet look" finish that
today's base coat clear coat finishes have.

The only difference between SSII and SSIII wheels is the paint color. Typically, RPO N66 was SSII in argent. RPO N67 was SSIII in body color.
The SSII/III distinction is NOT bolt-on vs. snap-on caps. This is a misconception found on the web.

I think 83 was the first year they started referring to this pattern of wheels as just Super Stock without the designation II or III. Wonder what it would have had to be for chromies? SSI already taken, so is SSII and SSIII. Hmm, so is SSIV. So chromes would have had to go with SSV?? Sounds like a new Lincoln or Cadillac.
