i am wondering if there is something i can use or if someone makes the silver stripe that goes on my 72 cutlass steering wheel. it looks like there is some kind of clear coat over the factory one that is flaking off. what is the best way to change it. the silver stripe is just a sticker that has some kind of clear over it.

I've seen these come apart before, it's a clear plastic insert into a notch in the wheel then there's some kind of metal foil that covers the insert. It could be that the insert is wrapped with this foil then pressed into the wheel. It's much thicker than aluminum foil, but I have one coming apart and I can scrape the foil with my fingernail. This is one reason I prefer the sport wheels. Yes they get sticky and the grain texture wears away fast. But the different colored plastic wheels will crack and these inserts are almost always coming apart. John
