stacking Cutlasses

Picked this hoist up today to stack my cars...and to work on them. Pretty cool rig.

Thanks Adam and Scott
It has the drip trays and tool box....I plan on putting the black car up top and the convertable below and work on both over the winter. It runs off 110 to which surprised me....actually got the idea from another CO member who had a pic of his in his avitar...now if I could just remember who.......

That there Cutlass looks an awful lot like a Porsche? Nice lift! I bought a 2 post once but sold it! I do plan on buying one in the not too distant future.

Yea, they're cool to have if you have the room in your garage. I helped a friend to install one in his garage. His measurements was too far off that when he want to take his axle off, it hits the wall, LOL. He has to do one side that has room and then drive his car off the lift, turn the car around, drive it back onto the lift to do the other side. I think he paid about $2500 for the lift.

Nah, that would be the VW 924. The 944 was a great car back in the day, super handling, good performance. LS swap it lol.

914, you mean...4 cylinder vw engine or 6 cylinder porsche available.

I love my 4 post lift, gives me more car storage room and with the included dolly wheels I can relocate it anywhere in the shop as needed.

You're going to love your lift, congrats. Four post lifts are great, I've had my BackYard Buddy lift for over 20 years now and wouldn't be without it. Before I bought mine I contacted BYB and asked if anyone in my area had one. They put me in contact with a guy who owned three, I called and set up an appointment to check them out. Was sold when I saw him lift a big 69 Roadrunner with ease, now you might say that's no big deal......well, I don't know why he order his lifts the way he did but they all ran on a 12 volt car battery.

They do! I just went on a Porsche fun run, and when someone pulled in, in their 944, all the rest of the Porsche owners started to snicker lol.

I am going to build a car building in the near future, and it will be X by 40, with the garage doors being along the X side. (X will be 50 or 60). 40 feet will get me two deep car parking with ease. I am anticipating either 3 wide and 2 deep parking, with service area to the side, or 4 wide and 2 deep, with service area to the side. Service area will have a good lift. Over the parking area, I am contemplating a loft over the far 2x2 parking area, but putting in one or two 4 posts at a later date over the closer parking spots might be a good idea. I believe I will make the building tall enough for everything, and not do anything with the 4 posts until I know what I need.

That would be my last "Porsche fun run". I like the cars, but I could do without most the owners and still live a happy life.
The Ferrari guys used to make jokes about the Dinos. Now they are over $100k.
I can do without car snobbery in all forms.

tell 'em brother...

I quit clubs....i rarely go to car shows....no way am i going to a judged show...and i'm picky about cruise-ins...i just dont like all the clicks, the stupidity, and the experts that have no idea what they are talking about and they nit-pik my stuff or others...who needs it..

you know that guy...he's greesey...he walks 2 or 3 steps in front of his friends..MAY OR MAY NOT BE DRUNK..usually sloppy...he's looking around to see if anyone else is listening..and will talk louder if no one is...he's always pointing at stuff...then he gets down there and looks at it...starts shaking his head, and starts mumbling to his buddies..and they crack smiles or giggle..and he has that stance..legs spread...arm pointing..like that famous Lewis and Clark sculpture...moron....acts like a tour guide...walks car to car...wants to engage the owner but usually ignored...loves confrontation..but is a coward...youve all seen him...

i like just about every car out there if its tasteful....and if i dont like it...i can appreciate the effort and work in it...

Talking better

That is better! I am stringing lights under it to put the interior in. It is wierd...the Porch is the least expensive car i own but everybody ahhhs when they see or hears that Ii have one. I work on my cars and the Olds is the most enjoyable....nuff said

Koda , my shop is 40x60. Each door is 12ft wide and 13'6" to the bottom of the header. I am glad I went with this height.....I plan on putting three more of these in, with most of my work being done on the arm lift . BTW, it is too small know, and I am actually thinking of adding on to it...I like this lift because of the storage capability and being able to work on the car. The downfall to them is the bottom car has to run or roll.....

Ted, nice lift... you'll really enjoy having it. I too like the drive on lift for the ease of operation (110v) and the ability to move it within the shop if desired. Koda, my shop at the house is 60' wide x 40' deep arranged in three 20'x40' bays with 12' wide x 14' tall roll up doors. I never thought I'd outgrow it but now like sammy (Ted) I find adding on is in my future because with 7 cars, work benches, shelving, and assorted junk there's not as much room as one would think for a dedicated work space. In the meantime, a couple of more lifts are in order. The pic shows the typical disarray of two of my bays. Good luck with your shop build and post pics of the progress!

Lonestar it looks like you need some more shelving or upstairs level built in the back for all the stuff. Plenty of room still in there. Its looking good Sammy i'm jealous. My 4 car garage doesnt have a high enough ceiling for a lift but I do have an whole up stairs I can use for storage and soon will have to start putting stuff up there!
