Spent $17,000???? Where???
I know this is not an Olds. But look at the pics of this car and the guy claims he spent $17,000 for professional work on it. This just made me laugh.

Some of the Cougar stuff is not cheap. Buddy has three of these and is always howling about how much some of it costs- it ranks up there with Olds performance NOS. The headlight actuators and sequential taillights are plumb outrageous.
I want a 66-7 Thunderbird, but they use the same headlight/taillight systems as the Cougar, so I know what I'm getting into. Good thing is people DO rebuild and refurbish the stuff.
But yeah, I expect a lot of the $17,000 went to pay someone else, and at California prices. Could probably have gotten it done for half that somewhere the cost of living isn't quite so high.

Towing costs
For what that car would cost to restore, because of limited #'s.
You're probably better off building a pro-touring classic with custom interior and drivetrain.
