special bolt???

ok.... i know some of you oldsmobile nuts will know this. 1970 olds 442 vert, i believe there is a special shoulder bolt that holds down the brake tee to the top of the rear end housing. its the tee that the rubber line feeds into and the hard lines go to the wheel cylinders. when tearing car down i dont remember a special shoulder bolt but during re assy, i noticed it looks like a shoulder bolt should be used? any help would be great!!!!!!!!

OK, you are now officially "nuts" Wish I can help, I'll check the assembly manual but I don't remember the bolt you are talking about. I bet Brian Trick would know.

OK, I looked at four rear ends this evening, 1968-72 and they all had normal bolts. One I'd say someone replaced it, but all four makes me think it was just a normal bolt. Here's two that you can make out the head stamp on.

thanks for the pics john. i dont remember pulling a shoulder bolt out of mine. but after re assy of brake lines and new tee it just looks like a shoulder bolt belongs there because there is a little play. i guess once bolt is tightened down all will be good.

Looks like In Line Tube sells both types of bolts for this application, shoulder bolt and non shoulder bolt.
