Spark plug problem

Does anyone know a direct replacement for an AC Delco R44S since it is no longer made? I am looking for a copper core plug with the same or very similar heat range.

Thanks much.

Tom

You can go up or down 1 heat range - seems that R43S is the replacement at the autoparts stores.

New old stock show up now and then on fee-pay.
I go with the R45-S. A little hotter for the crappy gas
and seem to do well in the old iron heads. My .02.
I think you can still buy them at Auto bone.

I'm running a 10.5:1 compression 362 and the r45s plugs are a little hot. I ran R43s's and didn't quite have as good of a heat reading as I would like, but if thats all I have to work with, I will go with it. I was wondering if anyone knew another brand that were very similar. I must have had the last set of R44S's on the shelf from my local auto parts store. Gotta love small towns. Parts sometimes sit around for a little while.

In the past I have used Champion RJ12YC's.
I have also used the Autolite 46 with about
the same results.
