Source for oil dipstick and tube
Last time I bought a set from the GM dealer I thought it was under $20. Now it appears it's closer to $40. Does anybody have a source that's less than that? I'm guessing the $10 ones on ebay are chinesium and are less likely to fit well and more likely to break off. Any thoughts before I bite the bullet? John

John,
I bought three different ones lately. two from Summit, different part #'s, both the same, and one from local parts place. You are right chinesium junk they would not fit, (when I say fit I mean too loose sloppy) and they leaked everywhere, i made a post about it somewhere here

I got one that the tube fit at my local GM dealer for under $25 The tube fit great, but the dipstick was flat with a big yellow handle (must have been wrong part) so I used the old dipstick.
Part #'s
Tube # 417090 $10.27
Dip Stick #419242 $13.74

Thank you for posting the numbers David, I guess my local GM dealer has a healthy markup! When I checked with them on Friday they wanted just under $20 each for the dipstick and tube. I might try the dealer in the next town.
I had remembered a post on bad tubes, but didn't remember who had posted it. John
