Slogan

Hello, I'm enjoying my '69 98 4 door hardtop. I had a '70s ad slogan, 'Wouldn't you rather drive a Buick', now I want to create one for my '69 Olds. Any of you know of such from the '60s?

Neil

"This is not your fathers Oldsmobile" is the only one I remember.

We've had one built, for you. Oldsmobile!

When the 1990 four door Cutlass came out I was at the Chicago Auto Show and they had the wall of TVs playing the Not Your Father's Oldsmobile song, all jazzy and such, I wrote to Leo Burnett and they sent me a cassette of that song. It's a couple minutes long. I still have it.

We are the new generation of Olds

That's what it was, the Not Your Father's... was just stuck in there.

This was from the 1980s, not the 1960s.

Early '70 Olds slogans, if I'm remembering correctly:

"Oldsmobile: Always a Step Ahead"

"Oldsmobile: Escape from the Ordinary"

"There is a Special Feel in an Oldsmobile"

We've had one built, for you. Oldsmobile!
I could be wrong, but I believe this was actually, "Oldsmobile: Have One Built for You." I think it dates from the late '70s.

The slogan was actually a bit more lyrical:

"Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?"

The line was actually part of a song. Listen here:

That might have been part of it, but the part I quoted was a little song.

The "Special Feel" slogan was also sung:

Another, longer version:
