sidewinder tach usage?

I've seen mention and also a couple pictures of sidewinder tachometers on the 66-67 Cutlass/442. Was this some kind of dealer option for non-rallye dashes? I'm thinking of something like this for my 67. I'm having a hard time with the idea poking holes in my relatively nice dash pad. Looks like you need two screw holes and one larger hole for the wiring. Any thoughts or even pictures appreciated.

That tach was a '66 only option. Replaced by the Rally Pac, which was 1st available in May of 1966.
There is a bracket type piece that goes on the inboard side of the dash too. Does leave sizable holes.

This is what mine looks like.

As you can see, it has two bolts that go through the dashpad and the retaining mount.

I have no idea why the factory decided to mount it that way but after having it and a rally pac 67 , I can say that for practical purposes it is MUCH easier to read when you are, shall we say "exercising the engine".

Let me know if you want to stop by and I'll show a dash pad that had one mounted. There are 2 styles of the inside mounting bracket, the earlier narrow one and the revised 2nd style with the larger surface.
