I see a BIG difference between a burnout and the carnage in this video...

Looks to me like a complete waste of auto parts. I guess if you like that sort of carnage it's entertaining.

I was stunned. I wanted to know if you guys had ever seen this stuff.
If you check out modifiedcarforums.com there's more to see. The burnout contests aren't always total flame outs. More of a curiosity to me.

Those videos are all over youtube and seems to be real popular down under. It does seem like a waste of time, money and parts but if it floats their boats...

Along the same lines are the wheelie contests. Beautiful cars lifting high and coming down hard...can't be good on anything.

These are what we Aussies call Bogans or yobbo's , I bet you guys probably would not have seen a LH Torana or HQ Monaro, HZ Ute or Turbo VL Commodores lol.
Having a limited source of cars here in the 70's and 80's most of our Muscle for decades seemed to have 4 doors!
We really only had 3 types of V8 coupes Holden's Monaro, Chrysler Charger and the Falcon Coupe and no one had a big block on the option list.
Ahh the smell of burning rubber in the morning......

There were a lot of body styles down under that never made the market up here, and many were badged with the same manufacturer/model name as some we're familiar with but looked nothing alike.

I've always liked the Holden Utes.

I agree, big difference between a burnout and carnage. Might as well drive into a wall and see what kind of a cheer you get.

The early Holden Monaro coupes definitely had the US DNA (and driveline) and The 68 to 71 HK HT HG GTS Monaros factory installed with Chebbys in them are commanding between $70 and $100K !
The Holden ute is an icon too, just traded a 2012 Holden ute in for a 2015 Falcon ute....still miss the Holden.

That looks like it was filmed at the annual Summernats in Canberra. Its the kind of rat bag yobbo ( Redneck maybe?) show that attracts tens of thousands of alcohol fuelled guys over 3 days.
Strangely the girls seem to stay away:P
