The Short list is done, NEW LIST!
The Short list is done, NEW LIST!
So now that I have somewhere in my garage, all of the pieces I need to put it back together, start and run in the next 2 weeks, another list must start, ...you know...not need but want. At this point my funds are too low to seriously buy, but I have to set aside a budget and work on it over the next months of 2019, and maybe I can reserve something. My wife likes the El Camino but wishes I had a floor shift instead of column, so any GM mid 60s to mid 80s would work. El Caminos are not spacious enough for a console I believe, but maybe? She also wants Bucket seats...I guess I stink or something! Finally, my dash looks like it has been grenaded. All of the plastics and mountings are soooo brittle, fixing it seems to be not too advisable so I will be looking for at least the gauges and upper half from a G Body. As with the project that is almost ending, function is more important to me than style or correctness. I know this is an Olds purist blog, but let's just say I am using as much Olds as I can to make the El Camino as it should have been, a rat rod! If I have to get the smooshed broken down seat reupholstered, for a little more I can get some buckets, right? Of course I realize that WA State is not the hotbed of Olds fanatics so shipping will be the factor that keeps us apart. I absolutely missed the swap meet season up here awaiting pieces and parts and working. So keep me in mind as you replace this and that in your projects. A few interior pieces would make me, but most especially my wife happy. If she's happy I have a cruising partner! GET IT?
