Shipping a hood any advise??
#4
I figured the crating part. However, most LTL shippers have a used item clause in the insurance. It rates all used items at .10 a pound. A rip for sure. I am looking for who has used what companies to ship and what kind of results. Positive results is what I am looking for. Thanks

An often discussed topic. Suggest you ask Eric (jensenracing77) - he was looking into shipping an OAI hood to TX and might be able to give some advice. There's also John McNeel (2blu442) in Medford OR - pretty close to you who could likely give you some pointers on shipping large stuff.

A few years ago I shipped a w-25 repo hood (all fiberglass) from outside of Chicago to the middle of texas.
Weight was about 60 pounds and it cost me about $85 to ship it.
I shipped it by Greyhound bus.
I completely wrapped it in bubble wrap and then cardboard. Dounled up the cardboard on the corners. It made it there in about 3 days and was in the same condition as it left.
Greyhound shipps all kinds of stuff in the lower compartments. There were motorcycle frams and other weird shaped items being shipped with my hood. They told me they ship stuff all the time like this.
