Shipping a car

So tomorrow i am paying for my 1970 cutlass and i was wondering with probably a lot of you who ship cars... who is a good honest transport company to use? I would prefer to have it transported in an enclosed trailer. Oh and i will be transporting it from Port St. Lucie, Florida to San Antonio, Tx

as always TIA,
Thomas "Sicky Olds"

Mine wasn't enclosed, but I used Agape Auto Transport (www.agapetransport.com) and it went very smoothly

Call: Nova 503-572-4354. She's shipped both of my current classics and has competitive rates due to having a number of contacts.

I've used a few different carriers shipping to California and they all seem to be the same in principle.(Sorry cant think of them off the top of my head) but in the search google I typed in auto carrier transport and filled in info and it gave me more than 10 quotes and their business ratings

DO NOT USE M2REEVES.

They subcontracted the job and my vehicle was damaged in transport and they denied liability.

I advise you use someone you can go after easily if they do damage your vehicle.
Out of state transport companies make it almost impossible to sue them from your home state.

Hello All....I'm having my new '72 Cutlass Supreme shipped and it's due to be delivered tomorrow or Monday. It's being shipped from Baton Rouge, LA to Cleveland, OH.....I've never had a car shipped before and was just wondering if it's proper to tip the driver?
Thanks!

But seriously if they do an awesome job delivering it (the driver not the company, he is just the worker bee remember). I would say by all means tip him, but if he is a douche and has bad customer service with you or your car was damaged due to his driving i would say no tip for him

I never thought of it until about an hour ago. I spoke with the driver and he seemed really cool. He likes old oldsmobiles and used to have a 442. Said the car looks real nice and starts right up and runs well. That got me thinking about a tip. The internet is full of conflicting opinions but I wanted to check with some Olds guys. The general consensus seems to be that a tip is not expected but is appreciated. I am a very generous tipper with food servers, etc... but just didn't have a clue in this case. Almost didn't even think of it!

I have used Gary Straight:
straightroads@verizon.net
970-227-0237

He is excelent and has lots of insurance. He is independent and uses an enclosed rig. Being independent his schedule may not match up with yours, but it means that he loads the car once and delivers it.
Many of the big companies with pass your car around like...., I can't think of the right analogy (old timers setting in). Anyway - they load and unload your car multiple times, increasing the chance of damage.

When I had my '73 Custom Cruiser shipped an admittedly relatively short distance (90 miles), I tried to tip the driver, who was excellent. He refused the tip. Said the charge to ship the car covers everything.

I have used Intercity Lines on a few occassions. The guy or team that picks up your car is the guy or team that delivers it. There is NO cross docking involved. They transported my Cobra, HD motorcycle, my 442 and my '66 Shelby GT350. They are by far one of the top transporters in the country. No brokers, no middle men... Check R/M auctions BJ auctions and others, that's who they use as well. Top flight operation....
