Shipping

What company is everyone using to ship bigger boxes, such as a qtr or fender? I need something from the Duluth, Mn. area to be shipped to Northwest, In.

The rates are hard to beat BUT area they cover is fairly small... They may be able to help you Minn to INDY

I recently shipped a fender from Oregon to Colorado, and a door from Oregon to Florida., I used UPS but went through the Pirate Ship web site for a significant discount from the UPS website. You could go online and check the rates before committing. John

Just for the sake of curiosity, what did it cost to ship a heavy door that far?

I pulled the guts out of the door, but packaged it still weighed 73 pounds. Funny though, when I clicked in numbers to see the price didn't change from the weight going 60, 70 or 80 pounds. But there was a key measurement that when I went over it the price almost doubled. I did have to repackage making the wrapping tighter to keep under that size, shipping was about $123 and some change. This was a 1971 Cutlass door. I thought Oregon to Florida for around $125 was a good price.

The package size was 55"X27"X10"

I checked both UPS and Fedex, to ship 60lb quarter in a 70 x 30 x 16 box, they wanted $600-$700?

Create a free profile on this site. Then punch in the same numbers you did on the UPS and USPS website. I don't know the exact amount, but my experience has been a significant discount through this site.

Shipping companies try to optimize truck packing, so they price by size and by weight. A large, low-density package gets charged more because that's truck weight capacity that they cannot sell. Same thing for a small, heavy package that results in wasted volume.
