Seat & interior options

I was under the impression that with 1970 442's, the standard front seat was buckets and the bench seat was an option. I was told by someone today that the bench seat was the standard in the front on post cars only and that buckets would be optional on post cars. Does anyone know this answer for sure? Thanks.

I've never heard of such a thing. According to what I see, if it was a 4-4-2, it came standard with bucket seats, whether it was a holiday or sport coupe or a convertible. You could get a bench seat and a credit of $68.46 came with it. It appears you could also get a "custom sport front seat" with a fold down arm rest in exchange for bucket seats. But I've never known of the bench seat coming as standard equipment in the '70 sport coupe.

I never heard it before, either. What you state makes sense.

"Someone" would be wrong. The factory sales literature clearly shows that the buckets are standard in all three body styles of the 442 that year.

Yep. He and I debated on the subject for a bit and I let it go because it wasn't worth my effort. I was pretty darn sure he was incorrect.
