Nick Jeffrey
Nick and I emailed back and forth quite often. His energy endured till the end. He will be missed for sure.
Rest in peace Nick and all the best to family and friends.

This is sad and my condolences to family and friends. I remember his post here Giving up an addiction. Here is a quote from his thread.
"Thanks guys, but things are coming to the point of no return. There is no getting better........it's just a matter of time. Been diabetic for 48 years with heart problems the last 20-25 years. I had an attack 4 years ago but came thru that in good shape. The normal refraction rate for a heart (ability to pump blood) is 70%..........my rate is 5-10%. Had been for a while. On my 4 th defibrillator/pacemaker. Nine years ago they told me I would be dead within two years, but I have fought and fought and stuck around (maybe that explains my attitude on here sometimes?) The diabetes has taken a lot of feelings from my hands and feet. I am literally half blind.
So that means I have been fighting off this day for a looong time. Sorry for the rant."
He had courage to face a tough time and his situation.

Thanks for finding and posting Nick's message from earlier, Joe.
Thus must we all go, sooner or later.
I think Dr. Dan on ROP said it best already: Race in Peace, Nick.
From his account on ROP:
To the Olds Community,
I am writing this on behalf of Nick, Sandy, and his family. I know it may give some of you chills seeing his name post something after hearing the news of his passing. I apologize for that. I wanted to thank all of you for all of your kind words, comments, and photos of Nick.
Nick passed on 6/5/14 at 5:00 am in Mason City at the North Iowa Hospice. As most of you know he fought his battle with Diabetes most of his life since he was 13. Over the last few years it had become a battle everyday just to stay on top of it. As we all know nick he was a fighter, a very strong willed man to say the least. He had severe CHF (congestive heart failure), kidney failure, and renal failure.
Nick was able to have his family and friends by his side and he went peacefully in his sleep early In the morning on thursday.
God Speed Nick
