So, whats the best part you have bought for your Oldsmobile thru Rock Auto?
I just recieved this
Interesting, this was "hidden" within their system. I generally look for parts under 442 and Cutlass Supreme. This was listed under Cutlass 455 Body parts. No listing in 442 or Cutlass Supreme, so their system does not cross reference between body styles. Its the only one they had, steel frame/glass top aftermarket. Under a grand shipped to my front door

You win the internet today, congrats, 5 out of 5 for $1000.
The brand is Goodmark, Im sure its the same hood that Tamraz and Partsplace sell, which are made in Tiawan. I was gonna order a Glasstek from Rocket Racing, but like the idea of having the metal frame. Its gonna get modified, so surely didnt want another factory piece or a Thorton.
Just curious, what kind of modifications are you planning on making?
I am using the Rocket Racing heads and Intake, so will need to raise the rear center portion for clearance. Not sure how yet, but will do lots of planning and measuring before anything is modified. Was gonna buy the 2" raised hood that RR sells, but dont like the out of per-portion look of the scoop openings. Hopefully my friend who does paint and body will have some good ideas.(he hasnt failed me yet.)
Drop base air cleaner....or get creative with an air filter mod that will allow low profile and not impinge on intake flow.
Maybe do something like Chevy did with a cowl intake? Or install 68-69 style W scoops with a modified low profile air cleaner.
I'd leave the hood alone.

Believe me, there will be no cutting until there is no other option, but the RR package raises the carb above the hood line. We will just have to wait and see, maybe I'll wack an inch off the intake and see if that is enough.
Can you do a motor mount shuffle to lower the engine a bit? I don't remember all the details but a lot of folks ended up with the engine too high by using the wrong combination of engine mounts and frame mounts, so is it possible to use a combination that lowers the engine?

Its a 455 car with original frame mounts and 455 motor mounts
FWIW, when I dropped in my 455, I used the 350 pads and mounts and my engine seems pretty high. The Hedman long tube headers are up way higher than the shorties I used with the small block. Everyone complains about their headers scraping the ground but that's not a concern for me.
