Rock Auto closeouts. Not a lot, but maybe something for someone.

I didn't know they had a closeout page, so I looked for my cars, and picked out a cabin air filter, and some wiper blades at a great price. Then I saw almost $23 shipping as the cheapest option, doubling the cost of the items, and they can use each item as a suppository. No bargain at all with such a ridiculous shipping charge for a few small, light-weight items. As if they were being shipped from Pluto!

 

They can get pretty greedy on the shipping. Often times I will look up an item and get the part number. Then I go to Amazon and look the part up. Sometimes it may be a little more but with Prime I don't pay shipping and the total cost is usuallly less.

 

The problem with Rock Auto is, if you buy multiple items, they don't al come from the same vendor, so you end up paying the shipping on each one.

 

Dont forget the extra 5% discount. And yes, you need to be aware of which warehouse you are ordering from. I generally pick a bunch of items I need for multiple cars, then check the close-outs and add some items. Then eliminate items from outlying warehouses.

Best deal so far was a GoodMark 1970 OAI hood(fiberglass over steel frame) for $800 and $220 to ship. Right at the beginning of covid
