The glass blocks the vent window frame from turning, the vent window frame blocks the glass from turning, and neither can be lifted straight out because of the door frame. It's like trying to open a puzzle box. What's the trick?

 

The trick is following the directions in the Fisher Body Manual. Chapter Six to be exact.

You have to loosen the rear window guide channel and remove the lower window stop. This lets you lower the window all the way to the bottom of the door cavity and then slide it as far rearward as possible. This then disengages the window glass from the front track on the vent window frame.

 

If all else fails, read the directions!! Or just keep removing parts until you can access whatever your working on, and hope you can remember how things go back together.

I use to despise working on window glass for the very reasons you describe. You either need the book, or the time and patience to find the right combination to remove the glass/regulator/whatever.

If the ******* on the assembly wouldn’t leave all the razor blades inside the door, I would now just “dislike” door panel work. It seems like every time I work inside a door, my hands look like they did battle with a crazed raccoon. Hence my razor blade comment.

 

That is so true. It's like they purposely sharpened every raw metal edge inside the door.
