Removal of Wiper/Washer plate???
I am replacing the woodgrain on the dash of my 70 442 but I don't know how to remove the plate and the oblong **** so I can pull off the old and put on the new. I have done this many years ago but today at 67 I just draw a blank. Shooting blanks too

It may not be the same on yours but on my 78 it says to twist the headlight **** (left or right can't remember) then use a paper clip to push a pin and remove the ****.
That's a 78 remember, so it may not be the same. I don't know
And thats just for the headlight ****.
If you have a chassis service manual laying around for your car it should help. You might want to get a Fischer body manual for your year as well.

John, on your 1970 there should be a small allen screw on the side of the oblong ****. That will remove it. Then for the bezel there's two small nuts on the backside that need to be removed. For that you'll have to come in from the back of the dash to remove them. I can probably find some pictures of the back of the dash/wiper bezel if that would help. John

Here's what the back of the switches are like:
The wiper switch is similar.
If you just want to change the silkscreened faceplate, then a razor blade will pry it off - it is a thin aluminum plate glued to the screwed in bezel.
The bezel comes off once the switch is removed.

You asked about the chrome plate/bezel. The chrome plate has two very small studs that come out of the back of the chrome plate/bezel. These studs go through the dash plastic. The studs have small stamped "sheet metal" type nuts screwed on from the backside of the dash plastic. Once you remove the **** on the front and the switch assembly on the back you will then able to access these two small fasteners.
