Recent Find (1969 Cutlass)

It's been a few months since I've picked up a decent Cutlass. Most of what I was running across was either to rough, over priced, or both. But my luck has changed, at least for now.

I ran across this gem over the weekend and the owner responded to my inquiry this morning. After a short conversation I loaded up the truck and headed over to Georgia to pick it up.

It's a complete and solid 1969 Cutlass four door. I was told it was a low mileage, one owner car. LOL
It may be true, or it might be a slight over exaggeration. I'll learn more as I examine the car more closely. But I am guessing it's rolled the odometer over.

The car drives out smoothly, but needs shocks, brakes and maybe a few bushings. But it still feels tight.

The engine looks original but it has been apart and it was repainted blue. I'll check the casting numbers, vin and date codes as I go over the car to confirm this assumption.

It's been repainted once. It was originally a blue car.

The bad:
Rust in the lower fenders and lower rear quarters. A little around the rear window but not much. and some of the weather strip channel in the trunk is rusted away. I'll get some pictures of this rust damage later in the week after I have a chance to go through the car thoroughly and see what I actually have.

The good:
Excellent dash pad
Excellent Trunk lid
In Dash Clock
Original Jack is still in the trunk and is in really good condition.
Excellent Radiator Core Support
Really nice Grille
Nice original Fan Shroud
Many nice original parts under the hood and under the dash.

I'll post more pictures later in the week.
I am going to post the car for sale ($2600) in the cars for sale section.
If I still have the car after six weeks I'll go ahead and part it out. It has a lot of really nice parts.

Tom

The engine is original.
The trunk pan will have a few pin holes in it after it's cleaned up, but nothing that can't be fixed.
The jack is real rusty on the down side. I thought it was gunk but of course it was rust. The hook and base are nice.
The car was last on the road in 2004.

I'll lift it up tomorrow and see what lies underneath.
