rear spoiler on a 1969 cutlass
I tried to search the forums, but couldnt find anything regarding required mods to mount a rear spoiler like a hurst olds on a 69 vert? I will buy a repo spoiler any help would beappreciated, is it just trying to match the trunk curve on the pedestals?

About 30 years ago I put a Rallye 350 spoiler on a 1971 Cutlass Supreme. I did what you suggested, removed the mounting studs and gently worked the spoiler up and down until it looked like the best fit. Somewhere I've got a reproduced document of measurements where the spoiler goes on a Rallye 350. But since your putting this on a convertible it may be a slightly different location.

John, what's different about the inside framing of the 69 deck lid? Wouldn't the drill patterns be the same as the 70-71 W35 wing patterns in the Assembly manual? I have some pictures somewhere showing a deck wing drill pattern, just have to look them up.

Thanks fellas, that would be great, my understanding is none of the reproduced spoilers have the thwo studs and a bolt is tgat right? I know they put the spoiler on the 69 ho vert do you think they just changed the angle of the spoiler? Or massaged the bottom of the pedestals anyway appreciate the help

Not from the factory but of course the 2 or 3 H/O convertbles had them as standard equip., i dont know about the other W cars and im not sure what they did with h/o as far mounting i think they might of just moved it a bit on lid my diagram is only for 1969 and does not specify coupe or convert

???????
I know only the few 69 ho verts had them and only the HO for 1969, but do you mean from 70-72 no verts got wings? (Spoilers)
Was it that it could not be ordered? Pogo thank s for the help

The deck lid spoiler was not available on convertibles or on Cutlass Supremes from 1970-1972.

well....
Dave thank you just learned something as I haveseen alot of wings on verts very much appreciated
Pogo thanks very much for the diagram I guess the best idea wouldbe to see what angle the spoiler is on a hardtop, and tgen adjust some way either the pedestal or wing to a similar angle, just have to make sure I have down force not lift lol

X2 on Dave's comment.
You might also see deck lid wings on 1972 models which is 'interesting'. They were never offered as an option that year, but people seem to like the look and add them anyway. The wings were discontinued May 31 of 71 according to my 72 Cutlass Assembly manual. That's well in advance of any early 72 models produced.

My 1972 W-30 has a wing. It was not a factory piece as the wing had been discontinued long before my late production car was built. However the original owner had the dealership install a parts counter wing on the car.

I had purchased an aftermarket wing several years back with the idea of putting it on my car. The more I thought about it though the more I didn't want to. So it got sold to a friend who sold it to a friend.....not my business any more. I like the look of my car better without the wing. - I did put it (carefully) on the deck lid a couple of times during the decision making process to see what it looked like though. meh

Ok, I found those pics for a 70 442. If you look carefully you will see the 3 posts that come through the deck lid on both sides. I believe 2 of the holes already exist on the interior sub assembly of the deck lid. Just the middle one has to be carefully measured for the install. The factory used a gob of dum dum to seal the deck lid from moisture. It was applied from the inside - see assembly manual for details.

Thank you allan and dave, I am taking a lot of styling cues from a 69 ho convertible, I will be adding the hood scoop as well, it will be white with gold stripes but gold interior yada yada I actually love the look.. but I understand, I never liked the look of the judge wings on geetos never liked the judge without the trim rings etc.
