radiator swap

Has anyone put a 4 core radiator into a 68 442. I know you have to replace the lower brackets but what to you do about the top plarte? Does it have to be replaced and if so where can you get one?

Chris,
I don't have a 68, but I looked in the 68 Assembly Manual Section 11, page 111. It looks to me like there are 2 different top plate assemblies. Someone who will know for sure is Randy Corrigan (rcorrigan5 this site) Here's his PM link https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...corrigan5.html

I used '68? Toro lower rad brackets [four row](they bolt in) and bent the tabs on the upper plate until I found the correct four row top plate...

The lower brackets on my 68 are welded in. I simply bent them until the radiator sat down inside them appropriately.
The top plate also needs to be modified. Since it is visible you will need to do a better job modifying it. I made a couple of small cuts before bending to get the top plate to fit.
