Question for Ontarians

OK so I found a picture of the first car my grandfather owned in Canada after immigrating from Ireland. I am told it was a 1949 Oldsmobile ???? Some poking and prodding from others on this forum has really peaked my interest in this car.

See thread: https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...ification.html

My question is this. Does anyone know of a way or is it possible through the Ministry Of Transportation to get a list of all the vehicles my Grandfather Owned while he was alive?? I would love to be able to get the VIN for this vehicle and run a Vehicle Abstract to see if its still around.

I am not sure if they can do that. A friend of mine bought a 56' Chev, and when he got the ownership report it went as far back as the 1980's when they started using computers. The only way I can think is if the car is still around, and owned by someone. Let us know if you find out anything different.

I just went through this looking for a car that I owned in 1986.I needed the VIN to see if it still exsisted. I tried every thing possible but got no results. Then I found a photo that the licence plate was visable in and bingo. The Ministry ran a plate history and they gave me all the information on the car.I then bought the used car package and it showed me the last registered owner.Other than that I'm afraid your out of luck.

Hmmm.... good point. I will have to see if I can find any more pictures of that car. Maybe showing the License plate.
