Question about value of the Olds Tri-Power

Hey everybody... I tried a search and didn't quite find what I was looking for so I will ask here. How much would an original set of the tri-power carbs 7026055, 7026056,7026057 go for?

I assume these are rare? Do they make any repoductions?

Are these Rochester 2G and 2GC's or are we talking a newer generation of carburetor? I don't know the numbers on 2G's but they come up on Ebay as cores for $75 to $125 sometimes...Tedd

Recent sale

Early last month I sold an AU manifold and (3) original carbs 7026055 7026056 & 7026057 with a correct fuel bowl/filter for $3800.. it did not include linkage, fuel lines, carb tags or air cleaners ... Hope this helps you and good luck with your search.. they're out there...

I have a set of three carbs that I refurbished. I'm not real happy with the color but they are original. I've changed a few things like the top screws to stainless so if you're looking for resto perfect these are not it. I'll sell the three for $450 + shipping.

All - thanks for the replies... I should clarify - I am not looking to purchase any, but I might purchase a car with this set-up on it. I was wondering if there was any kind of premium for this set-up and would it result in a higher value for the car.

Thanks!

I'd say yes to both questions. What kind of car?

The biggest premium would come if it came from the factory that way. It was a rare 1 year option and I don't think many were ordered. Be careful alot have been added of the years and don't pay a factory premium for a garage converison.

It's a 1966 442 with the tri-power on it. It is not original to the car but it appears the carbs are numbers correct. I am verifying the numbers on them tomorrow. I've heard they are worth anywhere from a couple hundred to a few thousand.

So far I found factory 3 X 2 intake manifolds at Pomona and Phoenix swap meets this year. Each was going for $100 'as is'. I'm not sure if that's a deal, or the going rate.

Those were probably J2 manifolds. I've never seen a 66 tri carb manifold go for $100

What allyolds68 said. I got a steal at $900 for my manifold and carbs. If it's a 66 manifold it's in pieces for that price.

I will buy every 66 3X2 intake in good condition for $100 you can find. I'll even give you a $100 each for your trouble. Where else can you double your $$$$$?

I recognized both of them as Olds intakes because of the notched outlet for the thermostat housing. I'm not sure if that design dates all the way back to the J2, or was a later ('66) version. I'd hate to think I passed up a great deal like that.

There is also an "H" casting [1 of 1 known to exist 1967 L69] intake, it's here in Lansing, going on the dual-engine 1958 wagon.

Oh and the 1965 development casting.

Ridicu-rare items aside, yeah, the "common" L69 intake might go for $1000 bare, up to $5k with ALL the right associated pieces- long oil fill tube, proper long arm bell crank, linkages, fuel lines, GLASS BOWL FUEL FILTER, fresh properly done carbs.

Any $100 Olds 3x2 intake will almost certainly be the uber-common J-2 unit, and overpriced at that. Evidently they made those by the 1000's. They even used them up on the line, I hear, as a normal 2-bbl engine, by blocking off the front and rear carb holes.

Oh, and a few yrs ago I logged onto epay at 11pm, sorted intakes by newest first, which I NEVER do, and found a bare L69 intake for $150 BUYITNOW. Rubbed my eyes, no, not $1500. CLICK. Expected to hear story about the typo, was supposed to be $1500... got a call 20 minutes later from the seller.... the ad was on for oh 15 minutes... guess I priced it too low? :-)

I replied that I was pretty happy with the price. And very generous with shipping costs.
