I have a 1970 Cutlass Convertible. When the hood latch is pulled and the hood release spring pushes up on the hood, is there any kind of pad between the spring and the sheet metal of the hood? It seems odd that the spring makes direct contact with the hood. I can't remember if there was anything there (or supposed to be there) to kind of act as a buffer between the pop up spring and the hood. Any info, directions to a diagram or part info would be so much appreciated!
