Question about the B85 belt line trim

Was it a standard item on the '72 Supreme, or was it an option?

Option for those three years and more.

I wonder if there is a way to know how many were built with the B85 option 🤔

No. I would say it's a 20% option, or less.

So 20% built with the option across the 3 year production run?

No idea. It's a limited option, you see it occasionally. The option existed for many years outside of the three years of 70-72.

There's data on models, some packages, transmission types. That's about it.

The B85 was an option on the Supreme in 1972. My records show 450 Supremes were equipped with this option through June of 72. There was probably 6 weeks or so left of production for the model year.

Probably the same reason why a lot of 442s had an open differential and not a limited slip differential.

Interesting records. Never heard of those stats surviving, if they did.

So I know I'm splitting hairs, but if there were, on fact, 450 B85 equipped Supremes in '72, then a U code B85 '72 Supreme has to be a real rarity.

Stop worrying about it. Koda pulled the 20% number from his butt.

Indeed I did. Even though Sid says he has actual data, none of this matters. Corvette people are especially bad at this. You'll see a row of Corvettes, all with boomer boards proclaiming how their car is 1 of 1 with that paint, those floormats, and that accessory rear mirror. It's getting to be that it will be the only one with gas in the spare from some wheel assembler's rear because he liked to fart into the air inlet for the compressor and that will be valued for some reason.

Both of my 72 U code cars had it and I always thought all Supremes had that trim. I never knew it was rare until now.

This is getting a little OCD, even for you.
