Quartz Clock Conversion 1972 Cutlass

I'm hoping that someone can tell me how to remove the clock **** from the stem of the clock. Unfortunately, I am getting hung up on the first part of this job.

The instructions indicate that the **** comes off with either a small regular screwdriver or by holding the stem with one pliers and removing the **** with the other. Neither seems to be the case and I don't want to damage it.

Thx

The instructions you have are correct. I understand your apprehension dealing with such delicate parts. Try dribbling some penetrating oil down the shaft to help break loose any corrosion that may be there. I'm guessing you have the clock out and on a bench to do this work.

Does the shaft separate at the ****? I have used oil but it doesn't appear to want to free itself.

Thx

The shaft is threaded where the **** attaches. The clock I have has a very small standard driver slot that unscrews to remove the ****. Either way, it will be threaded there and that's what you need to release. You can't just pull the **** off because of the way it's designed for resetting incorrect time on an OEM unit.

Allan,

As always, thanks for your guidance. Im always afraid to use pliers on a elicit item such as a clock. Clock works great!
