Quadrojet Carb

I'm going to sell this carburetor. Looking for help to set a value. It was in a box of parts that came with a 1970 442 that I purchased.

you will need to see what the carb # is to identify it's year/application,driver's side of carb body.appears to be from a pontiac to me .

I would agree with Jim, looks like Pontiac, cuz' those are the carbs that usually have that big vent in the front. Could be a good one...get the #'s.

Ditto, good early 70's Pontiac one maybe. The ones with the secondary flap cut outs have larger holes for the fuel transition and are good performing HP models generally

Early Olds Quadrajets fuel inlets also enter from the passenger's side.

The "GOOD" pontiacs have divorced chokes

the air flaps on the secondaries do look pontiac..but the throttle arm is nothing like a pontiac...since its a carter style q-jet, its prob some type of universal service piece..it does have the 71 up vent

ive seen some real good carbs go thru the rebuilder shack and come back as a pieced together mess...but the bowl numbers where real good numbers

Once he posts the number, we'll know. Carter Quadrajets numbered like Rochesters are not universal replacements, but specific to their application. Carters numbered with a 4 digit Carter code are technically "aftermarket," so they'd be more universal, as you say.

Try looking here. Yours looks pretty crusty. The #'s are probably hiding from you.

The flat spot or shelf on the main body is where to look.
You can barley make out the #'s on the pic I posted.
But it gives you the spot that will tell what it was made for.
Can you see where I'm talking about?

If that G on the end is actually a 0 zero as it should be a number. It would be 7043260 off a 73 Olds 350 Omega/Cutlass

Thanks Gearman. I'd like to get rid of it. Do you have any idea of the value of it? ...if any

Remember guys, those#'s are just the main body #'s.
These Q-J's have know to have been cobbled together over the years.

I looked closer and the number is actually 7043266 not 7043260. It appears to be off a 1973 Pontiac 400 or 455 motor.

Not that tough.

Please, all y'all, do this before putting forth photos on the net
Like adding text to known REAL or FAKED part number stamps so later we all know what is being shown.

Olds #'s are [after 1967 or so] in the '250's
260's and 270's maybe are Pontiac.

Google brings up all kinds of information, some of it is even useful.

Works well on numbers.

Of course, if you know where to find the most crucial number, that helps.

Since the discussion has visited the realm of which body goes with which vehicle, riddle me this BatMen! I have a Q-Jet that I bought for a Sawbuck to put on my Cutlass thinking the fuel inlet was in the right place. But when I run the number (17056212 ABH) I get '76 Chevy Puckup with a 454. Divorced choke style. It looks like I can put a choke on it so that is not a big concern, but will it work right? The gasket between the baseplate and body has been squeezed out into the secondary cavity preventing them from opening so someone tried to wire them to the linkage and force them to open. A gasket kit will fix that, but what about the over-torqued top plate? Can that be straightened out and work right? Do I need another parts unit to repair this thing?

Since it turned out to be a 7043266 73 Pontiac carb it may be a little easier to sell if you advertise it as such
