Pulled a 400e block from a heavily toasted '67 442...
long story short... 2 weeks ago responded to a craigs ad for a '67 442 that burned in a house fire. after seeing the car & validating that it had the 400E engine, OG code th400 switch pitch trans & posi "poncho" differential a deal was struck for $400 (PARTS ONLY). catch was i only had 2 days to pull everything. the owners didn't have much history about the car just that they had purchased it a few years before mildly restored. car ran & drove before it burned to the ground. so i got all the parts home, engine in the stand naturally assuming a complete rebuild but pulled the intake today & i'm surprised how clean this thing looks inside. so while i got this thing on the stand are there any checks/measurements i can do to help me decide whether to rebuild or run as is? i have a factory service manual for '67 & the Mondello tech manual. any help, tips or info is greatly appreciated! thanks
here are some pics of the car & block

I took a 76 350 out of a cutlass
that was burned as bad as this one,
dug what was left of the carb out
of the manifold, replaced it and the
melted alt. dropped in in a 74 442,
and drove it three more years with no
problems. I did have to replace the fuel
pump and dizzy too.
